Sydenham Hill
London Wildlife Trust

Braving grey skies and multiple bouts of hail, Fiera Real Estate came together at Sydenham Hill and Dulwich Woods in order to build new habitats for local wildlife. The woodlands, managed by London Wildlife Trust, make up the largest remaining section of the Great North Wood, an ancient woodland which is home to hundreds of different species of plants and animals.
Protecting habitats from being trampled is an important part of woodland management. Fiera Real Estate spent the day building dead hedges alongside footpaths. Dead hedges are upright structures built from weaving organic material, such as branches and twigs, through posts to create a green barrier. By building two large dead hedges, Fiera Real Estate helped to protect a damaged area of woodland from further harm, as well as creating prime habitat for small mammals, insects, birds, and other creatures.
The team made quick work of the projects in the morning before sheltering from some of the harsher weather with a pub lunch nearby. After warming up inside, they returned to the woodland to complete their hedges.
Thank you Fiera Real Estate for coming out in the cold to create an important habitat that will benefit numerous different species and protect damaged woodland.
