For their biannual cycle meeting, the Jazz Pharmaceutical joined GreenTheUK and Buglife at the Yorkshire Arboretum to create some wildflower meadows, also known as insect highways or 'B-lines'. This was a special day as we returned to the site of one of the first ever b-lines, which was created at the arboretum back in 2012.
The team started off their day learning about the history of the B-Lines project and its close ties to the arboretum as one of the pilot sites 12 years ago. After being split into two groups, they were led on a tour of the gardens which passed through the original B-Line wildflower meadows that are thriving to this day.
In the afternoon, team Jazz tackled both planting meadows and conservation work. 1,000 plug plants were planted along the front of the Yorkshire Arboretum to kick off a new patch of wildflower for local pollinators. Across the site, a massive dead hedge was put together to create the perfect habitat for birds, invertebrates, reptiles, and small mammals.
The wildflowers planted on the day are the first of 27,500 square metres of new wildflower meadows that will be planted across Yorkshire Arboretum from Jazz's support.
