LMAX Group joined GreenTheUK and RFS at Hockeridge and Pancake Wood on Tuesday 25 June. It was a beautiful summer's day with the woodland in full bloom so there was lots to discover about woodland management.
The team started the day with a guided walk of the woodland, led by our Tree Geek, Jen Turner, who shared her knowledge on the threats grey squirrels pose to woodlands, the incredible fire-proof qualities of coast redwoods and the history of Hockeridge and Pancake Woods.
In the afternoon, the LMAX Group team helped clear holly trees to allow more light onto the woodland floor and to create habitat piles for wildlife. We finished the day by planting a specimen Yew tree, nicknamed Eugene, which took the strength and team work of many LMAX Group employees to help dig the hole into the hard ground! In years to come, LMAX Group can revisit their specimen tree and watch it grow as part of this wonderful woodland.
