On a chilly Friday, 9 members of Leaders Romans Group joined up in Bristol with Buglife and Your Park to help improve Willmott Park.
The public greenspace features a decorative ditch running through the field, and was in quite rough shape. The team got to work cleaning up litter from all over the park to start the day. After collecting the rubbish, prepping the ground for planting began. By tilling the ditch, the group from LRG was then able to plant wildflower plug plants - which are young, partially grown plants, that have a better chance of survival than just seeds and provide immediate habitat to insects and other small creatures.
Their work will not only improve biodiversity in Bristol by improving habitat for pollinators and other species, but also beautify a local green space valued by the community.
Thank you LRG for taking part in another volunteering day to help improve our local ecosystems. They have restored one hectare of wildflower meadows across the local area as well as further sites around the UK.
