At the Portsmouth Institute of Marine Science, located right on the waterfront, a group from Leaders Romans Group came together for a biosecurity cleaning event led by Blue Marine Foundation.

Volunteers donned gloves and aprons before diving in to sorting and seperating oysters from other small marine life, removing unwated critters from the production line and cleaning the remaining oysters of mud, grime, and even parasitic worms. These 30,000 oysters had to be cleaned one by one to follow the Biosecurity Measures Plan and keep the reef sites free of invasive species.

LRG sponsored approximately 300 square metres of these oysters that were then deployed into the new reef located in the River Hamble.
