Leighton Redwoods
Royal Forestry Society
18 May 2025
Riello UPS joined GreenTheUK and Royal Forestry Society for another volunteering day at Leighton Redwoods, surrounded by the tall and mighty Coast Redwoods.
Like last year, the team arrived in high spirits, ready to enjoy a day out of the office and immersed in nature. Away from the sounds of modern life, we enjoyed the peaceful bird song and a guided walk, led by self-proclaimed Tree Greek, Jen from the RFS.
We learned about this experimental planting project and the incredible resilience of Redwoods - trees that can germinate after falling, self-prune, and even withstand fire. Inspired by nature, we rolled up our sleeves to help manage the woodland.
The team cut-back overgrown pathways and removed a large tree that had fallen in the path in a recent storm, as well as creating more defined pathways using branches to deter mountain bikers from veering off-track.
What a brilliant way to spend a Wednesday and thank you Riello UPS for bringing the energy and enthusiasm on a scorching (almost) Summer's day!
