Sydenham Hill
London Wildlife Trust

A team from Sanofi braved the rain on a Friday morning to join the London Wildlife Trust and GreenTheUK to help manage a protected London woodland. Although the grey skies decided to stick around, the forest was exploding in colour as the plants enjoyed the much needed rain.
The day kicked off with a walk down to the base of the woodland, learning about the history of the forest covering Sydenham Hill on the way, then the team jumped straight into sawing logs and hauling them down the central pathway to be used as new boundaries to keep people off of the wildflower meadows. After staking them into the ground, the main body of work began: levelling out the pathway to improve accessibility and safety. Hundreds of kilos of gravel were shovelled into wheelbarrows and carted across the woodland before being dumped at the designated site and compacted into place.
The maintenance and improvement of designated pathways across the woodland is vital to protecting fragile ecosystems from being trampled down and disturbed, as well as boosting accessibility for all members of the community to enjoy one of London's woodland gems. Thank you to the Sanofi team for making a huge difference to such an important project for the local community.
