On 1st October 2024, a team of five employees from esure volunteered their time and hard work to support wildflower restoration at Quarry Hangers in Surrey, a site local to their Head Office in Reigate. Louis from Buglife and Ben from Surrey Wildlife Trust explained why their help is so valuable as sites like this were neglected during Covid-19 so there's a lot of work to do to ensure the area is biodiverse and a rich habitat for pollinators.
The team worked to pop tree saplings that are taking over to allow more space for wildflower meadows to bloom and thrive. This steep site looks over Surrey and all it's greenery, although the audible nearby motorways were a reminder of pollution and the importance of creating insect super-highways to help insects move more freely across the landscape. Thank you esure for taking time out of your busy days to support local wildlife and give back to nature. Take a look at esure's case study to view their support of projects on land and sea
