Gravetye Estate

08 Oct 2025
LRG spent a rewarding day volunteering at the beautiful Gravetye Estate, in partnership with the William Robinson Charity and GreenTheUK. The team spent the morning weeding around the young trees at Peace Wood, newly planted in early 2025. Weeding helps reduce competition for light, water, and nutrients, giving the young saplings the best chance to establish strong roots and thrive.
The site is home to a rich mix of species including Macedonian pine, guelder rose, western red cedar, field maple, oak, alder, black poplar, rowan, and wild cherry. Many of these trees were planted by local children and volunteers, making the project a true community effort. In the afternoon, the LRG team replanted trees that hadn’t made it, helping to give the saplings a fresh start.
It was a day filled with teamwork, fresh air, and a shared commitment to supporting the biodiversity and beauty of Gravetye Estate.
