CREATE & MANAGE GREEN SPACES AT HEALTHCARE SITES WITH GREENTHEUK
AIM:
To improve and maintain greenspaces on local healthcare sites.
LOCATION:
Healthcare sites across the UK.
PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The NHS Forest is the flagship project of the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare (CSH), which plants trees to save lives. Illness prevention and health creation are a key principle of sustainable healthcare, and trees and woodlands provide a wealth of health and wellbeing benefits that keep our communities healthy, reducing pressure on the NHS.
By planting on underutilised land at NHS sites, the health of surrounding communities can be boosted while reducing carbon, air pollution, and increasing biodiversity.
ABOUT NHS FOREST:
The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare (CSH) is a registered charity that develops knowledge and resources to support the NHS and other health systems to reach net zero carbon and wider sustainability. Their flagship project, The NHS Forest, is an alliance of healthcare sites working to transform and improve their green space, providing numerous health benefits to local communities and increasing biodiversity, all while encouraging engagement with nature.
