• Plant trees and wildflowers to reconnect fragmented habitats
• Install wildlife boxes to provide safe nesting and roosting sites
• Remove invasive species to allow native plants to thrive

ABOUT WALK WHEEL CYCLE TRUST:

Walk Wheel Cycle Trust is a UK wide charity making it possible for everyone to walk, wheel and cycle. We are the custodian of over 12,000 miles of National Cycle Network which is made up of safe, traffic-free paths and quiet on-road cycling and walking routes. The Network supports biodiversity by providing habitats for thousands of declining species native to the UK. 

Our in-house team of ecologists and dedicated volunteers are making more space for nature. They’re building wetland areas for great crested newts, installing roosting boxes for bats and birds, planting trees and wildflowers, and improving habitats for species such as the common blue butterfly. 

Over the past year we’ve taken important steps to support biodiversity along our routes. The growing number of greenways and traffic-free paths provide people across the UK with access ‘to and through’ thriving green spaces.
